We can use numbers to show movement in a lift.
Step 1 — Going up
Let us say Basant starts at the ground floor. The ground floor is Floor 0. He presses +4. This means he goes up 4 floors. Let us find his new floor.
Step 2 — Going down
Basant is now at Floor 4. He presses -4. This means he goes down 4 floors. Let us find his final floor.
